Set Apart

Ok so you know how there are verses in the Bible that when you read them, they just roll off your tongue so nice and sound so beautiful.  But in all reality to live out what they mean is just plain hard.  Well I have had a verse just rolling around in my heart that is just that, hard!  I hope its ok if I share it with you today.  It’s from Romans 12:2 which says, ” Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”  Another version of the Bible says it this way. “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.  Instead, fix your attention on God.  You’ll be changed from the inside out.”

Now I don’t know about you, but I’m kind of a fan of fitting in without even thinking about it.  I don’t want to be different.  I want to do things just like everybody else does.  But according to Scripture that’s just not ok.  And can we just for a moment say that’s hard?  And I know the promises He offers if we don’t conform are awesome, but still not conforming…its not my thing!  But as I sat in church on Sunday morning next to my husband, I again felt this call in my heart to not conform.  And its scary sometimes because that means we have NO idea whats coming next since we are following His plan and not the worlds.  So today in the midst of the hard, when I just want to fit in, I am gonna cling with all I got to that promise…that I’ll be changed from the inside out!
